January 26- Season 55 for the Wildcats is in full swing and Arizona has announced not only the squad for a big clash in the Bay Area but also that leadership team, with Jack Brown and Jacob Broselle captaining the 8th ranked team that heads to Saint Mary's.

"I can't say enough about Jack and Jake. From their first year during the pandemic where they helped keep their class together, to now leading from the front and continuing to progress as athletes and people. Jack's following in big shoes with James Rivers' graduation, but Jack has already made the role his own, fostering a collaborative high-energy squad that we're really excited about" said Director of Rugby Sean Duffy. Brown, an all PAC-12 Flanker/Lock from Charlotte, North Carolina, has set high goals that the team is working each day to reach. "Being a captain is a huge honor. I appreciate my teammates trusting me enough to help lead them, and our goal is a national championship. I have full confidence in this team, and I look up to the work that James did last year. His ability to set high standards every day is something we continue to build on" said Brown. Broselle, a 2023 Sevens All American and all-conference Wing from Ferndale, Washington, will serve as vice captain. "Leading a team of this caliber is a huge honor, and our goal is to win a national title and unlock our potential" said Broselle.

Brown and Broselle will feature right away in this week's match up against #4 Saint Mary's. The Wildcats used last week's victory over Washington to test combinations and now looks to put those to the test against a strong Gael side on the road. Last week's Wildcat of the Week Jacob Hall pairs with George O'Brien to give Arizona a lethal combination of scrumhalves that will look to pull the strings on the Wildcats attack. "We have a lot of respect for Saint Mary's, and it's our first time there in a bit. They are well-coached and dangerous in attack so we are excited to put two top ten teams together and see what happens. I love this team and the energy around them right now. From the workouts to the pre-training jokes to the intensity in practice, it's a fun team to coach and we will have to stick together and stick to our plan. Sky's the limit if we do that" said Duffy.

Arizona's last match-up with Saint Mary's was in 2017, with the Gaels defeating the Wildcats in a national semifinal in Moraga. Saint Mary's comes in to tomorrow fresh off a big win of their own, defeating UC-Davis on the road last week.

Arizona 2nd XV will also make the trip, taking on Saint Mary's 2nd XV immediately following the 1st XV match.
