Jan 26- Arizona announced their schedule today as Women’s Rugby kicks off their first regular season under the leadership of new Head Coach Tatum Quimby.

The Wildcats, fresh off a strong Fall preseason where they went 2-1, will open January 28 against UC-San Diego at William David Sitton Field. In February, a slew of tough opponents are lined up with trips to UCLA (Feb 4), Grand Canyon (Feb 11) to start the month. “I really enjoy the enthusiasm and work ethic that our athletes bring to practice” said Quimby. “We have some challenging matches ahead of us, but I’m excited to see how things play out and we’re all eager to get the season started and grow as a program.”

Returning standout Talia Ben-Yosef summed up the upcoming season with a mostly new squad and staff. “After a large graduating class, our team this season is over 60% new. It’s been so exciting to see the rookies and veterans grow in to new roles on the field.” said Ben-Yosef.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wildcats will take on Arizona State with that all-important clash set for the regular season finale on March 25. “I’m so pleased to see our progress, and that’s a testament to how quickly Tatum and her staff have come in and gotten some real things done. The leadership in the team has been a huge help not just to the team but also to me as we work each day to build the best Women’s Rugby program in the country” said Director of Rugby Sean Duffy.
