Mar 4- Arizona hit the road this past weekend, traveling to Los Angeles to take on UCLA in a pivotal matchup in the Pacific Desert Conference. 

 

Arizona came out firing, receiving the opening kickoff and immediately going on the attack. The Wildcats wasted no time getting on the board, as Molly Chisholm powered over within the first ten minutes to give Arizona an early lead. The forward pods continued to assert themselves through the middle of the field with strong, direct carries that set the tone physically. Out wide, Jojo Hanley was electric, breaking the line multiple times. One of her outside runs midway through the first half resulted in a well-earned try to extend the lead.

Chisholm struck again in the 32nd minute, charging up the center channel for her second try of the day. She added the conversion to cap a dominant first-half performance and send Arizona into halftime up 17–0. Arizona’s work in training paid dividends as well. After emphasizing offloads throughout the week, the backline executed them effectively in the second half, stretching UCLA as fatigue began to set in.

 

Head Coach Tatum Quimby pointed to the team's defense, with Chu and Finley leading the way. "Melody and Finley absolutely locked down their side of the field on defense and forced UCLA into touch several times. We persevered on defense" said Quimby. The team showed composure and resilience throughout the second half, conceding just one try around the 60-minute mark after UCLA executed a well-placed kick to the corner. UCLA threatened again in the final minutes, but Arizona held firm, locking them out until the final whistle. The win moves them to 2-3 on the year heading into the bye week, with their final regular season match against San Diego State on March 21.
