UCLA PREVIEW: CONFERENCE PLAY UNDERWAY IN LA
#12 Arizona vs UCLA
Saturday February 3
StubHub Center
3:00 PM PST
Sean Coleman and the Wildcats will debut their new playing kit but will be much more focused on the Bruins at the StubHub Center.
February 2- Arizona returns to action this Saturday, kicking off a tough stretch of matches against PAC rival UCLA tomorrow at the StubHub Center, home of the Los Angeles Chargers. The match will serve as a curtain raiser for USA-Argentina in the kickoff for the Americas Rugby Championship.
The 12th-ranked Wildcats have named the squad that will take on the Bruins as the Wildcats look to build on their 53-22 win over Grand Canyon in their opener January 12th. Kyle Rogers skippers the squad at Fullback with Vice Captain Sean Coleman leading the Forwards from the Lock position.
The lineup from last month's victory is mostly unchanged, as the Wildcats look to put the past two week's work in to action. Inside Center Tom Molloy makes his first career start after playing a key reserve role in the opener, and the halfback pairing of Matt Rogers and Anton Grigoriou look to continue their growth together after a strong opener. In the Forwards, the talented duo of Coleman and Bronson Teles gives the visiting Cats a strong engine room to go up against the Bruins.
The Wildcats hope 2018 is a repeat of last season, when they defeated the Bruins 47-8 at home for their first victory over their PAC rivals in recent years. "We have a lot to prove. While we've beaten this team before now, we haven't won anything and the boys know that. This will be a great opportunity for us to put the past two weeks of hard training in to play" said Head Coach Sean Duffy. "What I can say is that we have a very eclectic group that has a lot of fun putting in the hard work and that's unique. Not every team has a great culture, but if you get that right, everything else becomes easier."
Arizona Second XV also returns to action after last week's bye, taking on USC on Friday evening. The Wildcats Second side will look to build on their 76-17 performance Jan 20 where they defeated Stanford at home.
Arizona vs UCLA will be featured on The Rugby Channel, with tickets still on sale here.
