PLAYER POOL ANNOUNCED FOR SEVENS CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON
Ryan Hudson and the Wildcats will go for the double with two high quality tournaments in the next four weeks.
May 9- Arizona will close out their year over the next four weeks in Sevens, with their Spring Sevens pool announced today for their final tournaments of the season.
The Wildcats, this year's PAC Conference Sevens Champions, will face off against the nation's best over the next four weeks at both the USA Rugby College Sevens May 18-19 and the Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship June 2-3.
The squad is led by veterans of the past few seasons, with Captain Kyle Rogers and Vice Captain Ben Joseph leading the team along with fellow returners such as Dante Weeks, Ryan Hudson, and Jonah Eldridge amongst others. New faces in the Sevens pool include standouts from the Fifteens season like Wing George Niethammer and Flanker Bobby Butchofsky, with the former emerging in the final stretch of the season after an injury-plagued preseason.
"We're excited to get back to work and we are just focused on getting better each day, getting closer as a group each day, and having fun with this" said Head Coach Sean Duffy. "You can work hard, be exhausted, and still keep positive which I think this group's found out in the past year, and that's a great sign."
The Wildcats had a standout preseason, rotating their player pool across two tournaments and finishing second at each before winning their conference for the first time in the Sevens format. The Wildcats' draw for USA Rugby's Championship is yet to be announced but the CRC will pit the Cats up against Boston College, Indiana, and South Carolina. CRC tickets will go on sale via this site shortly for Wildcat fans and supporters at a discounted rate.
