July 5- Two of Arizona's leaders have added another accomplishment to their growing list today as Kyle Rogers has been named to the Collegiate All Americans Sevens list on the 2nd team and Mason Pedersen has been named to the Honorable Mention in Fifteens.

 

This award caps an impressive season for the Flyhalf from Granite Bay, CA, who helped steer the Wildcats to a top 8 finish in 15's and a top 3 finish at the Collegiate Rugby Championship. "It's an honor to be considered an All American" said Rogers "but it's a testament to the hard work our team puts in over the year, and it wouldn't be possible without my coaches and teammates who push me to get better every day." 

 

"We're thrilled for Kyle's selection to this prestigous list of players" said Head Coach Sean Duffy "since I arrived here in 2014 he's continued to grow and our hope for him this coming year is to make that 1st team which we know he's capable of and is a biproduct of our team success." Today's selection adds to the long list of Arizona players over the years, with past selections such as Brett Thompson, Ryan Matyas, and Peter Tiberio having gone on to reperesent the USA in Sevens.

 

Pedersen, a Sophomore Prop who recently signed with the San Diego Breakers of PRO Rugby North America, earns his nod after a season in which he was named a Junior All American. Before traveling to Zimbabwe with MJAA, Pedersen was an anchor of the Arizona scrum, continuing to grow each week in the strong Wildcats front row. 

 

Rogers and the Wildcats may be on summer break at the moment but that hasn't stopped the Flyhalf, who is currently in South Africa at the Stellenbosch Academy with his younger brother Arizona Scrumhalf Matt Rogers as they both work to grow their games to help the Wildcats this coming season. Pedersen continues to grow with the San Diego side, competing as a professional in the newfound league.
