Oct 28- Arizona continued their preseason on Friday with a showdown against Grand Canyon University as both program's Second XV sides took the pitch in Tucson at Sitton Field.

The Wildcats, led by stand-in captain Charlie Green were looking to build on last month's preseason victory over Northern Arizona, while implementing new items for the 2020 season that's fast approaching. In the first thirty, it was the Wildcats' defense that led the way, with the work of Green, Prop Max Richins, and Center Kevin Reilly setting the tone. In the 27th minute, it was Fullback Mason Phillips who broke things open, breaking the Lopes' line and finding Reilly, who popped to Flyhalf Tanner Davison for the first try of the game. The 10-0 halftime lead was one that would soon grow, with Richins, Center Adam Richardson, and Green each touching down in a 21-5 second half to finish the 31-5 victory.

"A nice step for the guys, especially on defense. We've made a number of changes to this year's structure, and to see our young guys really embrace it and stick with it is a testament to their trust and their effort, as well as the work of our coaches like Pat Coco" said Director of Rugby Sean Duffy. "GCU was a great opponent and I'm excited to have one of my good friends in coaching there in Sean O'Leary that does a graet job, and like me is aiming to promote the sport here in our state to the next level."

The Wildcats victory over GCU marks their last home match of the Fall, with a final trip to Austin to take on University of Texas in three weeks for the Freshmen-Sophomore side.
