Sept 18-  Arizona Rugby formally announced its Fall schedule today, with both the Men’s and Women’s programs back on campus preparing for the upcoming season.

PRESEASON FIXTURES

Arizona Men will begin the year with a two-match preseason, starting tomorrow in Flagstaff as the Wildcats’ 2nd XV takes on Northern Arizona University. Arizona will hit the road once more before full matches begin, traveling to Phoenix on October 3 for a Freshman-Sophomore clash against Grand Canyon University.

Arizona Women will begin their preseason a week later against Grand Canyon as the team begins its Sevens campaign, with an eye toward the Pacific Desert Rugby Conference Sevens qualifier in Irvine on October 24.

OCTOBER CAMPAIGN

Arizona Men’s top two sides will open their competitive season on October 11, traveling to take on Colorado State University before returning home to host Western Washington and Arizona State for a pair of matches at Sitton Field.

The Wildcats will close out October with a trip to Southern California to take on San Diego State.

Arizona Women will conclude the month with a showdown in Tempe against Arizona State on October 30.

NOVEMBER TESTS

November will be a pivotal month for both programs.

Arizona Women will travel to take on Air Force, marking the first meeting between the two programs in recent history. The Wildcats will then close out the first semester at Grand Canyon on November 21, this time in a 15s contest.

On the Men’s side, Arizona will take on Lindenwood in a neutral-site match at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado, before concluding its Fall campaign at home against Santa Clara on November 14.

Spring schedules for both programs are set to be announced shortly, with several high-profile matchups on the horizon in Tucson. The Women will look to continue their growth from last season, while the Men will look to build on last year’s run to the national quarterfinals.

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF RUGBY

“We’re excited about the schedule we’ve put together for both programs this fall. We have a good mix of preseason opportunities, conference and regional competition, and some really challenging tests against programs that will push us. For the men, the goal is to use the fall to continue building toward the spring, while the women are competing and training using Sevens to prepare them for the PDRC season this spring. Most importantly, we’re excited to get both groups back on the field and representing Arizona.”
