PRESEASON SCHEDULE RELEASED FOR WILDCATS
Matt Rogers (L) and Zach Heisterkamp (R) will look to protect Arizona's Sevens title this November.
Aug 21- Arizona has formally returned from the Summer with both Freshmen and returners taking the field and slate of preseason matches and tournaments lined up as they prepare for the 2019 season.
Building on last Fall's run to the PAC Sevens title, the Wildcats will compete in two legs of the West Coast Sevens, traveling to San Luis Obispo October 6th before the two-day event in San Francisco October 20-21. This year's PAC Sevens Championship is set to move from Tucson as part of the conference rotation with a venue to be announced shortly for the Nov 3-4 showcase.
In Fifteens, the Wildcats will take on local foes Grand Canyon University twice along with Northern Arizona University before a match with Notre Dame in South Bend as the Parseghian Cup returns. This match is the Wildcats' largest charity event of the year, with all proceeds going towards the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation.
Arizona will close out the preseason with the 4th Annual Red-Blue Game benefiting the Humane Society of Southern Arizona with animals up for adoption on site and 100% of match proceeds going to benefit the cause.
"This is a great opportunity for our guys to get ready for Spring, especially our Freshmen who are excited to wear the jersey for the first time. It's a great of the D1A schedule to have the Fall to really focus on what we need and give our youngsters time to get acclimated so there can be a real competition for playing time in January" said Head Coach Sean Duffy.
