February 8- USA Rugby formally announced yesterday that the 2019 College Sevens National Championship will be coming to Tucson this May.

The event, taking place May 24-26, will bring together 64 teams across both men and women's collegiate rugby from across the country, making it the largest format in the event's history. Tucson was selected through a bidding process put together by University of Arizona Rugby, Kino Sports Complex, and Visit Tucson.

The Wildcats look to be contender in this year's event, with this tournament joining the Collegiate Rugby Championship in June as their end of the year Sevens showcase tournaments.

"We are thrilled to be welcoming in such a great event to the city of Tucson," noted Sean Duffy Bid Organizer and University of Arizona's Head Coach . "We're incredibly grateful to be working with such tremendous partners like Visit Tucson and Kino Sports Complex. With our recent history of hosting events like PAC Rugby Sevens as well as the hosting of Fiji Sevens training camp last year, the city is on the rise. It is going to be a special weekend and we look forward to creating a great event for all teams involved as we continue to grow the sport here and show people our vibrant, developing city."

Kino Sports Complex is a 155 acre facility with multiple state of the art fields and two stadiums, headlined by 3,000 seat North Stadium. The venue previously hosted USA Rugby Women's Premier League, PAC Rugby Sevens Championship, and multiple Rugby events for the city including last season's victory over Cal Poly.
