Mar 25- Coming off a three-game win streak, the Wildcats hosted Arizona State on senior night at Sitton Field with both teams pushing for a berth in this year's playoffs.
It was a defensive contest all night, with tenacious effort from the Wildcats leading to an attacking opportunity that Grace Uso would convert for a try in the fourth minute. A quick ASU try in response was the only scoring of the half, as defense was the theme for both sides. In the second half, an ASU linebreak and try would make it 12-7 and put the kickers into focus for both teams. A penalty slotted by Molly Chisholm would make it 12-10, with the second-year center teeing up another gem with just a few minutes left to give the Wildcats a 13-12 lead. ASU would receive the ensuing kickoff and work their way into the Wildcat half, and just when it looked as if they had made a stop to seal it, a penalty was called in the breakdown, giving the Sun Devils a shot at goal on the final play of the game. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, that kick would seal the 15-13 loss, ending the win streak but continuing to show the growth in this side under Head Coach Tatum Quimby.
"I'm incredibly proud of the tenacity we showed. We didn't let up for a second and we relentlessly chased down breakaways" said Quimby. In addition to honoring the seniors, the match also served as philanthropic event run by the team via their 2025 TackleThon. The loss puts the Wildcats' regular season finale in full focus with a playoff berth still within reach and one match to play this coming weekend in Claremont.
