May 20- College Rugby Association of America (CRAA) has announced the All Americans list for the 2025-2026 season, with five Wildcats named in this year's list.
Starting up front, three of the team's Tight Five earns the nod led by Captain Cameron Blair at Hooker. Dalton Slaughter is one of this year's Tighthead Props named, while Jack Bresland earns the honor in the back row after featuring at lock. In the backs, Jacob Hall and Fullback Matteo Berenger earn national recognition after standout seasons at Scrumhalf and Fullback, respectively.
Blair caps off an outstanding career at Hooker with the All American honor in his final season. The Dublin, Ireland native helped lead the side to a top eight finish while consistently being an attacking weapon both in the mauls and the loose play. Cameron's lineout work was thanks in part to the efforts of Bresland, who like Blair is a dual-qualified US-Irish background. Bresland's work in the back row and second row was integral to the Wildcats' success, helping lead the forwards and playing dominant defense. Rounding out the All American Arizona forwards is Dalton Slaughter, with the standout Tighthead Prop from Colorado anchoring the scrum next to Blair while also playing a key role in the team's defense and contact areas.
"To have three of your starting tight five recognized is a great sign. A lot of success in the sport comes from that group, and to see guys like Cam, Dalton, and Jack get some love makes us all thrilled because we know the work that's been put in by them over the years" said Director of Rugby Sean Duffy.
The Wildcat backline has also been recognized, with Scrumhalf Jacob Hall not only earning All American honors but selection to the West U23 assembly last week. The Queensland, Australia native has continued to grow each season, this year playing a key role alongside first-year Flyhalf Saxon Gerstl in leading a prolific attack, scoring over 40 points/match against one of the most challenging schedules in the nation. Berenger, this year's vice captain, caps off his senior year with All American selection at Fullback. The dual qualified French-American continued his growth into one of the most dangerous backs in the country, earning nomination for national player of the year.
"Jacob and Matteo are two of our hardest workers, true professionals that show through their actions and character that they want to improve themselves, the team, and the program for years to come. It's not a surprise that two of the guys who typically are doing the extras are the ones getting recognized so we are thrilled for them" said Duffy.
The Wildcats finished the year in the top eight for the first time in five seasons, with their five All American selections exceeding last year's three. The team has set its sights on taking the next step in 2025-2026, with a large group of returners and an outstanding recruiting class incoming.
