Nov 20- Arizona's 2020 season is starting to come in to focus as January approaches, with the announcement today of Bronson Teles as captain for the coming season.

Teles, a Senior from Foster, Texas, steps in to the leadership role after serving as a Vice Captain last season to Matt Rogers, as the duo helped lead the squad to the national quarterfinal for the second time in three years. The Lock/Flanker capped the season off with his third straight first team all conference selection and a 2nd team All American nod, while leading the team in tackles, rucks hit, and tackle rate. "I'm very excited for the opportunity that lies ahead. I look forward to continuing the legacy and leading the team" said Teles. "This team and the culture of the program have been very good to me and I look forward to representing the program, the school, and the team in the best manner possible."

While Arizona's Fall Sevens has concluded, their new captain is just getting started as Ben Scoular will take the reigns of the program. "I'm honored and excited to be Sevens captain, I have learnt so much from previous captains and want to embrace that and keep our squad moving" said the Flanker from Warwick, United Kingdom.

Both players have been instrumental in the team's preseason, with a focus on skill development, strength and conditioning, and setting the culture for the year. "We have a number of leaders in the squad but both Bronson and Ben have earned the right to be the guy, and they've already been great in honoring the legacy of the past while progressing us forward" said Director of Rugby Sean Duffy.

Arizona recently wrapped up their Fifteens preseason with a shutout of Texas this past weekend, while their Sevens squad was the only team to reach the cup final of both major tournaments. The Wildcats will conclude the season with the 5th Annual Red-Blue Game benefiting the Humane Society on Friday before turning their attention to final exams and the holidays. The team's 2020 schedule is set to be announced shortly, including the team's international tour destination for this March.
