Aug 17- A handful of Arizona's best performers from 2018 were recognized this past week as five Wildcats were selected for the 2018 Men's Collegiate All American Camp in Glendale, Colorado.
These players were five of 83 in attendance at the home of Major League Rugby's Glendale Raptors for a five day camp with some of the nation's best players. Those selected for 2018 were Flanker Sinclair Clinton, Fullback Kyle Rogers, Scrumhalf Matt Rogers, Lock Bronson Teles, and Wing Dante Weeks. While Weeks was unable to attend due to injury, the four players were able to gain valuable experience in the MCAA setup, with Kyle Rogers earning selection to the 30-man player pool to take on the Glendale Raptors this evening.
"We're thrilled to have our players recognized" said Head Coach Sean Duffy. "This is a great opportunity for all involved. In addition, I'd like to thank the MCAA staff for running such a quality camp as our players were brought in and given the chance to compete right away. In no way were they put on separate sides right away like in some camps, they went in, had a chance to compete, and did so to the best of their ability. I also appreciated how everyone was required to attend camp, unlike in past years where some players were allowed to skip that. Competition is what makes us all better as a rugby playing nation and this is a great lead in to the 2019 season for our guys."
Kyle Rogers, fresh off an end of the season stint with the San Diego Legion, has also earned selection for the MCAA Sevens team, which will compete in the Rugbytown Sevens next weekend in Glendale as well.
