CATS LOOK TO RETAIN CUP AT CELTIC SEVENS
Vice Captain Kyle Rogers '18 and the Wildcats look to win the Celtic Sevens for the second straight year.
May 20- Arizona Sevens has named a 13-man roster that will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico to compete in the 18th annual Celtic Sevens this weekend. Head Coach Sean Duffy has named a strong squad that looks to prove their talent in hopes of being selected for the 2016 Collegiate Rugby Championships June 4-5.
This year's team is led by Captain Cesar Davila, who is joined in the leadership by Vice Captain Kyle Rogers. A number of returners from last year's team are named to the side, as the Wildcats look to win the Celtic Sevens for the second straight year. Joining the returners is a strong group of Freshmen and Sophomore Tyler Sousley, fresh off a stint with the US Under-20 team in Zimbabwe at the Junior World Trophy.
For the coaching staff, this tournament is vital to the preparation for the upcoming CRC, but they are not looking past the development needed. "We've made huge strides in the past few weeks, and this weekend will give us an opportunity to get some good competition and experiment with things that we think will help us in Philadelphia" said Duffy "with that all said, our goal is to win and establish the all-important momentum and it's on all 13 to help us do that. They've made great strides and their sick of hitting each other so they're looking forward to channeling that energy into a game environment."
The tournament will feature teams from all over the country, with Men's and College sides competing in the annual tournament in conjuction with the Rio Grande Celtic Festival. The tournament will take place at the Balloon Fiesta Park at 5000 Balloon Fiesta Parkway Albuquerque, NM.
